- In hydraulic elevators, the elevator's load is carried by the building base.
- Machine room can be easily established on the basement or the first floor. Risk of accident during installation is lower with the secure machine room.
- Rescue operation can be normally made in a few minutes by the instructed people in the building, no expert is required. In emergency cases, the intervention can be made without going down the shaft or going upstairs.
- Installation and maintenance costs are lower. Supply of spare parts is easy.
- Damages which take place due to earthquake are less than that of rope elevators. They do not have the life threatening counter weight during quakes.
- Since hydraulic elevator units consist of less parts, they require less service. Hydraulic elevators, motor-pump drive system of which are generally located in the grease, operate without problem with minimum wearing.
- They are less sensitive to fire sprinklers and fire extinguisher systems located in the elevator shaft and machine room.
- Hydraulic elevators are the types which provide high carrying capacities in the most secure way.
Hydraulic elevators may be used as elevators without machine room. In the building, it provides more efficient flexibility of building usage area. For example;
- Since no counter weight is present in hydraulic elevators, they use less shaft area compared to rope ones (An approximate save of 0.5 m² is provided for a 630 kg. elevator).
- Since hydraulic elevators do not apply vertical load on the building, column dimensions around elevator shaft may be diminished.
- It brings flexibility for the selection of room place in solutions with machine room.
- It can be easily applied to buildings without shaft from outside, and it is suitable for terrace elevator designs.
- Without requiring a reinforcement for old buildings, it is the most economic solution for installation.
- In case of adding a superstructure to the building, hydraulic elevators can well adapt this situation.
- During downwards movement, the limited heat generated by the hydraulic power unit serves to reduce the effect of low heat at the building base.
